December Move-Out Instructions for On-Campus Housing at Binghamton
Students moving out of on-campus housing will need to vacate by Saturday, December 19th at 10 a.m. Students will receive emails from Residential Life with specific move-out instructions and should follow those procedures.
Students have two options for checking out of their room before Winter Break Closing:
Express Room Checkout
With this option, students can easily leave their keys in the green drop box located in your building’s lobby. Your Residence Director will complete a short walk-through of your old room during closing room inspections and note any major damages that may need to be repaired.
Residence Director Walk-Through
With this option, students can schedule an appointment with their Residence Director to complete a walk-through of their room with them in person. This option requires a prior appointment to be scheduled and cannot be accommodated as a last-minute request or during residence hall closing on December 12th.
College Move-Out Checklist
As you prepare to move out, use this checklist to make sure your room is clean, empty, and ready for inspection, and that everything is taken care of before leaving campus.
Before you check out:
- Remove all belongings; any leftover items will be thrown away.
- Take everything off the walls.
- Clean your room and take all trash to the dumpster.
- Move all furniture 1 foot away from the walls.
Before you depart campus:
- Forward all mail to your new address. A forwarding address card can be completed at the Mail Services Office.
- Deposit all dishes and silverware belonging to the Dining Hall in the appropriate bin.
- Return all library books.
- Close and lock your windows, and lower your blinds when leaving.
- Remember to return your building keys (if applicable). Students who do not return their keys prior to departure will be billed.
- If you rented your mini-fridge/microwave from , please leave them in your room. MyMicrofridge directly retrieves these units from student rooms after halls close.
