Housing Information for Binghamton's Fall Break

The Fall 2026 semester includes Fall Break, which will take place from Saturday, October 10th to Sunday, October 18th. Resources will be limited during this time.

Residence Halls will close at 10 a.m. on Saturday, October 10th and reopen on Sunday, October 18th at 2 p.m. Students wishing to remain on campus may do so by registering on their , which will be available in September 2026.

Note: There is a fee to remain on campus for this Break. Please review the fee information below.

What to do before leaving for Fall Break

Student residents who are not remaining on campus during break must complete the following before departing:

  • Completely empty/remove all of your trash from your cans/recycling bins.
  • Unplug all electrical devices (except refrigerators).
  • Close and lock your windows.
  • Make sure you take your keys with you.
  • If you plan to leave your car on campus during break, please note that you will need to move your car to a specific lot. We will update information here as it is released.

Students remaining on campus for Fall Break

Binghamton students (including those in the Apartments) who need to remain on campus for any portion of the Fall Break must register on the , which will be available in September. 

Cost of staying on campus during Fall Break

The cost for students opting to stay on campus for Fall Break is as follows:

  • Students wishing to remain on campus for any portion of the break will be billed for the entire break ($224). Break housing is not offered on a daily basis.
  • The break housing charge will be billed to the student鈥檚 account upon registration in the . This charge is nonrefundable even if plans change and the student does not remain on campus for the break.
  • Students living in the Apartments are not billed for break housing as apartment living encompasses break housing. Students living in the apartments still need to sign up on the for safety purposes. 

Important information for students remaining on campus during Fall Break:

  • No overnight guests are permitted in the buildings during the break.
  • Services will be limited.
  • Facilities Management may need to enter your living area to conduct maintenance work. If this is the case, Residential Life will notify you about this expected entry.
  • There will be limited service in the MarketPlace. When the MarketPlace is not open (weekend service and dinners), meals may be ordered via the EVERYDAY APP. Please refer to the Dining Services webpage for more details.
  • ITC/Campus Shuttle will be running. Please refer to the TAPS webpage for more details.
  • If you leave a vehicle on campus, you must park in Lot G1, M1, or ZZ North or South for snow removal purposes. View the parking map for more information. 
  • Make every effort to keep your keys with you at all times! If you are locked out of your room, the response time to key you in could be lengthy. 

Housing Agreement and Code of Conduct

During this break housing period, the University Housing Agreement and the Code of Student Conduct are still in effect. In addition, you must comply with the directives below. Break housing is a privilege, and you are expected to conduct yourself in a manner appropriate to a community living environment. Any alleged violations will result in immediate removal from break housing pending any student conduct or administrative follow-up action.

  • Students who have not been approved to be on campus during the break may not enter the residence halls/Apartments.  
  • You may not allow anyone to 鈥渢ailgate鈥 (not using their card access) into the building.
  • Keep your room and suite/flat/apartment door locked at all times.
  • Suite bathrooms will be cleaned over break. Please remove all personal belongings from the bathroom.
