Pharmacy professor named to prestigious journal’s editorial board
Clinical Associate Professor Wes Kufel joins leadership of the Journal of the American College of Clinical Pharmacy

Clinical Associate Professor of Pharmacy Practice Wes Kufel has earned national recognition, being named to the .
The appointment is based on his excellent service as a reviewer as well as the number of manuscript submissions and publications he has co-authored.
Kufel says it was a nice surprise to receive the recognition.
“I was incredibly honored and humbled to be invited to serve on the JACCP editorial board, which includes leaders in clinical pharmacy across the nation,” Kufel said. “I look forward to continuing to serve the Journal and .”
While is a relatively young journal that started in 2018, it has quickly become a key pharmacy journal for communicating landmark research that demonstrates clinical pharmacists’ ability to improve patient health outcomes.
It is also the journal that publishes the American College of Clinical Pharmacy’s white papers and opinion papers setting policy.
Sarah Spinler, a professor of pharmacy practice, spoke highly of Kufel and his contributions to reviewing and publishing pharmacy work.
“Wes was selected for his service to the American College of Clinical Pharmacy through publishing manuscripts in its journals and serving as an expert reviewer, which has helped JACCP improve the quality of manuscripts received and published,” Spinler said. “We are all extremely proud and excited for him.”
According to its website, an editorial board member for the Journal of the American College of Clinical Pharmacy is committed to helping it exert a positive influence on clinical pharmacy practice, contribute to improving patient health outcomes through comprehensive medication management and produce a publication of the highest quality.
Specific characteristics that are evaluated in the selection and appointment or reappointment of editorial board members include:
- Candidates will be active practitioners or others who are nationally recognized in the field.
- Candidates will possess a strong record of publication in peer-reviewed journals. Their publication record will demonstrate a continued and current commitment to peer-
- reviewed publication.
- Candidates will have demonstrated a record of high-quality service to the journal (such as being an author and reviewer).
Kufel joins nearly 60 other members who are on the JACCP editorial board.
