Congraduation! Our team member, Anna Jiang, has received the 2026 Fall Undergraduate Research Award by the ESURC office at ¶¶Òõ¶ÌÊÓƵ. Congradulations to Anna!
We received support from the Watson Industrial Outreach SPIR program, in collaboration with Tyfast on enabling next-generation battery technologies for electrifying heavy-duty applications.
Dr. Ma received a $177,274 grant award from the NSF Upstate New York Energy Storage Engine. The co-PIs include Dr. Hui Zhou at NECCES of BU and Dr. Jeremy May from TA Instruments. The prject aims to develop a new tester enabling real-time thermal and chemical behaviors characterization for Li-metal batteries.
The undergraduate students team, including Abel Alex, Erin Block, Lily Casey, Azan
Iftikhar, Emelia Lemza, Kaitlyn O’Dell, won the Best Presentation in the 2025 GEN
Keith Memorial Capstone Conference. Their project, entitled "Process Evaluation for
Graphite Recycling from Spent Lithium-ion Batteries", performed at ASERL under the
supervising of Dr. Xiaotu Ma, Dr. Yong Wang and Dr. Yuxin Wang. .

We held a battery collection drive and a series of different battery educational sessions
with our industrial partnership, Bridge Green Upcycle (BGU), in Global Service Days
at BU. Our Ph.D. student, Yihao Shen, introduced the important and neccessary of battery
recycling in the exhibitation.
We received the Analytical and Diagnostics Laboratory (ADL) Small Grant from Binghamton University (BU).
We received a $196,201 grant award from the NSF Upstate New York Energy Storage Engine. The co-PIs include Prof. Fuda Ning at BU and Lukasz Cianciara from iM3NY Inc. The project aims to leapfrog current lithium-ion battery manufacturing technology through a novel extrusion-based manufacturing process.
