By scaling access to faculty-led inquiry and creative scholarship across all disciplines, Binghamton will equip graduates with the high-level analytical and problem-solving skills that distinguish them in the global marketplace.

This goal focuses on embedding research and creative inquiry throughout the undergraduate experience — from curriculum innovation and faculty mentorship to scaffolded pathways and career connections. By making discovery central to undergraduate education, Binghamton will broaden access to transformative learning opportunities while reinforcing its position as an elite public university. 

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

  1. Percent of undergraduate academic programs that embed research or creative inquiry in the curriculum (course-based research, capstones, studios, etc.)
  2. Percent of undergraduate graduating cohort in research and creative opportunities across socioeconomic and demographic groups
  3. Percent of faculty mentoring undergraduate research or creative projects annually
  4. Undergraduate students’ self-reported gains in research, creative, and analytical skills (via the National Survey of Student Engagement and the Student Satisfaction Survey)
