BUC$ FAQ

¶¶Òõ¶ÌÊÓÆµ will be discontinuing the BUC$ program, an optional student service that allows prepaid funds to be added to a student ID card. Below are some frequently asked questions about the program being discontinued.

  1. What is happening to the BUC$ program?
    The University is discontinuing the BUC$ program. The final day to reload funds is Aug. 3, 2025, and the program will officially end on May 29, 2026. Students are encouraged to spend BUC$ balances this academic year.
  2. Why is the program being discontinued?
    This decision was made after a thorough review of campus needs and available technologies. The change allows us to transition to more modern, flexible, and widely used payment options across campus.
  3. Can I still use my BUC$ card right now?
    Yes. You may continue using your BUC$ card at all participating locations (Dining Services, Campus Bookstore, Food Co-Op) through May 29, 2026, or until your balance is depleted.
  4. How is BUC$ different than dining dollars?
    While both BUC$ and Dining Dollars are funds linked to your ¶¶Òõ¶ÌÊÓÆµ ID, they serve distinct purposes. BUC$ are optional, prepaid funds able to be used for various services across campus, including dining. In contrast, Dining Dollars are part of a campus meal plan and can only be used at on-campus dining locations operated by Dining Services.
  5. Can I convert BUC$ to Dining Dollars?
    Yes, you can transfer your BUC$ balance to Dining Dollars by emailing BinghamtonMealPlanOffice.USA@sodexo.com or visiting the Meal Plan office in UU-B02.
  6. Can I get a refund of my BUC$ account?
    Yes, students are eligible to get a full refund by emailing BinghamtonMealPlanOffice.USA@sodexo.com or visiting the Meal Plan office in UU-B02.
  7. What happens if I still have money on my card after May 29, 2026?
    Students with remaining funds after May 29, 2026 will be eligible for a refund. Details about how to request a refund after May 29, 2026 will be communicated to all account holders during Spring 2026.
  8. Where can I check my current balance?
    You can check your balance by logging into the   or by visiting the Meal Plan Office located in the Union Undergrounds.
  9. How does this change impact my printing capabilities on campus?
    Printing services and copies have been updated to accept other forms of payment. In addition, changes have also been made to student printing quotas. Please refer to the ITS student printing webpage for more details.
