Biography
Valerie Imbruce is the Director of the External Scholarships and Undergraduate Research Center and a faculty member in the Environmental Studies Program. Her research centers on how people develop alternative food systems to supply culturally relevant products under changing social, economic, and environmental circumstances. She is author of the book with Cornell University Press. Before joining Binghamton Valerie was Director of Environmental Studies at Bennington College. She is a proponent of interdisciplinary, student centered, and place-based education. She develops university-wide academic programs that foster undergraduate research and advises students on competitive, externally funded awards. Her work has been supported by the National Science Foundation and National Endowment for the Humanities. She is an alumna of Binghamton's Environmental Studies Program.
