Background

Jennifer Muriithi is a clinical associate professor in the Division of Occupational Therapy in Decker College of Nursing and Health Sciences at ¶¶Òõ¶ÌÊÓÆµ. She brings over two decades of clinical experience in neurorehabilitation, acute care, and community-based practice and is a certified neurorehabilitation specialist (CNS).

Prior to joining Binghamton, Muriithi was an assistant clinical professor and doctoral capstone coordinator at the University of Arkansas/University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS). Her academic career also includes faculty and lecturer roles at Huntington University, Northern Arizona University, and Midwestern University.

Muriithi’s scholarship focuses on occupational justice, innovations in community-based practice, and occupational resilience among displaced and marginalized populations. She frequently presents her work globally, including at the World Federation of Occupational Therapists (WFOT) Congress and the American Occupational Therapy Association (AOTA) Annual Conferences.

Committed to global health, Muriithi collaborated on the original WFOT position paper on human displacement and has provided cross-cultural therapeutic training and clinical consultations in multiple countries. She serves on the board of directors for Abounding Service, a faith-based organization empowering former refugees, and volunteers with regional refugee consortia and trauma-informed community groups.
