Background

Laura F. Lunger, DNP, CRNP, FNP-C, is a clinical associate professor in the Division of Nursing at ¶¶Òõ¶ÌÊÓƵ's Decker College of Nursing and Health Sciences, where she teaches in the graduate nursing programs.

Lunger has practiced as a family nurse practitioner since 2014, providing primary and urgent care to patients across the lifespan. She maintains an active clinical practice, bringing evidence-based practice and real-world clinical experience into the classroom.

Before joining ¶¶Òõ¶ÌÊÓƵ, Lunger served as a graduate nursing faculty member, teaching across master's and doctoral nursing programs and mentoring graduate nursing students in evidence-based practice, quality improvement, and doctoral scholarly projects.

Her scholarly interests center on improving obesity screening and cardiometabolic risk assessment by implementing evidence-based practices, including waist circumference measurement. Her research seeks to improve the delivery of preventive healthcare, particularly in rural and underserved communities, where early identification of cardiometabolic risk can meaningfully impact health outcomes. Through her scholarship, active clinical practice, and teaching, she is committed to preparing future nurse practitioners to deliver high-quality, evidence-based care across diverse populations.
